The name "Cuddly Jumpers" originates from my college days, when my friends and I had a thing about blokes in "C.J's" - you've guessed it - CUDDLY JUMPERS! And even today, the sight of a man in a hand knitted jumper still makes me go weak at the knees! Thank goodness that knitting is being seen as cool again! It is no longer seen as being something that your Granny does and there are people out there expressing their talent and being recognised for it! I was taught to knit at an early age by my mum and have always enjoyed it, despite numerous tantrums and throwing it across the room in frustration when it didn't go the way I wanted! I never got on with patterns though, so had to quickly learn how to adapt and create my own designs. My Granny would spend hours knitting us bright and colourful socks (a pair of which I still proudly wear to this day!) and following her lead, my Sindy dolls had more socks than any doll could ever possibly need!
My mum knitted all our jumpers as kids and although I didn't appreciate at school how good it was to have something different to everyone else (and would sit there with it stretched over my kness so that it looked as baggy and out of shape as all the other kids shop bought jumpers - sorry Mum!), I'm glad to say that I do now! I hope you enjoy the site! I love seeing one of my ideas come to life and every one of the garments on here has been knitted with the same passion. Nothing would make us happier than for you to get that same feeling wearing it! Laura.
